Gutter Repair and New Gutters in Independence

Clogged, sagging or leaking gutters send roof water into your fascia, siding and foundation. We hang one-piece aluminum runs, repair the gutters you already have and reroute downspouts. Before we quote, we show you pictures of what we found, and you get a second set when the work is finished.

Why we look at the roof edge, not just the gutter

A gutter problem is often a roof-edge problem. When water spills over the back of a gutter, it soaks the fascia board and the edge of the roof deck. Give it a few seasons and the wood softens, the hangers lose their grip, and the whole run starts pulling away from your home.

So our gutter visits start at the drip edge. We photograph the fascia, the hangers, every seam and the spot where each downspout lets out, then go through the pictures with you. If your gutters only need resealing and a pitch adjustment, we tell you that. If the boards behind them are rotted, you see it for yourself, and we explain whether some roof repair should happen before new gutters go up.

Our winters freeze and thaw over and over, and every ice load in a clogged gutter hangs off those fasteners. A system that drains fully between storms simply lasts longer.

What our gutter work includes

One-piece aluminum gutters

We form each run as a single length, so the only joints are at the corners and end caps. Fewer joints means fewer places to drip.

Proper pitch and solid hangers

Each run slopes gently toward its downspout, about a quarter inch every ten feet, so water never sits. Hidden hangers go into sound fascia at close spacing to carry wet leaves, snow and ice.

Downspouts that move water away

We size downspouts to the roof area feeding them. Extensions or splash blocks send the water well clear of your foundation and walkways.

Repairs to the gutters you have

Resealing leaky seams and end caps, refastening loose sections, re-pitching runs that hold water, and replacing bent corners or crushed elbows.

Fascia and drip edge checks

If the board behind a gutter is soft, we point it out and explain the fix before anything is hung back up. New gutters on rotten wood will not stay put.

Gutter guards, when they make sense

Guards can cut down on cleanouts under heavy tree cover. We tell you plainly whether your trees and roof pitch make them worth the cost.

Signs your gutters need attention

  • Rain spilling over the lip

When a downpour runs over the outer edge instead of into the downspout, something is blocking the flow, the trough is too small for the roof above it, or the slope tilts away from the outlet.

  • A run that dips or pulls loose

A low spot in the middle, or a gap opening between the gutter and the board behind it, tells us the hangers have let go or the wood has gone soft.

  • Stains or peeling paint below

Dark streaks on the fascia or water marks on your walls point to overflow or a leaking seam. Left alone, it can lead to work on the siding too.

  • Washed-out mulch near the foundation

Puddles, eroded beds or a soggy strip along the house mean water is landing where it should not.

  • Heavy icicles along the roof edge

Thick ice hanging off the gutters in winter often means they are holding water and freezing solid, which pulls them loose.

  • Rust spots and drips at the seams

Older sectional gutters fail at the joints first. A few drips in a storm usually grow into a steady leak.

How a gutter job goes, start to finish

  1. 1

A phone call and a visit

Tell us what you are noticing, and we set a time to come out for a free estimate. You do not need to clean anything first.

  2. 2

A close look and a plain answer

We measure every run and photograph the gutters, hangers, fascia and downspouts. Then we walk you through what we saw and tell you whether repair or replacement makes more sense.

  3. 3

    A written estimate

Every item is listed: feet of gutter, downspouts, any fascia repair, guards if you want them. You decide with the pictures in front of you.

  4. 4

    Install day

We protect your plantings, take down the old gutters and check the wood underneath, recording anything we find. New runs go up, and we run water through each one to confirm it drains.

  5. 5

    Finished record and cleanup

Old gutters and debris are hauled away and the yard is picked up. You get photos of the completed work to keep with your home records.

What affects the cost of gutter work

The price of gutter work follows two things: the total length your home needs and whether the wood behind it is sound. We measure each run and check the fascia before quoting, so the number fits your house instead of a guess. Each item gets its own line on the estimate.

Footage and how high we work
We start from how many feet of gutter your home needs. Second-floor runs and steep, awkward sections mean more ladder setups and more time on site.
Fascia condition
Rotted fascia has to be replaced before gutters go back on. We show you photos of any soft boards so the added cost makes sense.
Corners and downspouts
Homes with many inside and outside corners, or downspouts that need rerouting, take more parts and labor.
Gutter size and guards
Larger six-inch gutters and added guards cost more than standard five-inch runs, but some roofs truly need them.
Repair versus replacement
Resealing and re-pitching costs far less than a new system. We recommend replacement only when repairs clearly will not hold.

Gutter questions we hear

Something not covered here? (859) 695-2073

We may need a new roof soon. Do gutters come first or last?

Last, in most cases, or as part of the same project. The drip edge is installed with the new roof, and your gutters need to tuck correctly beneath it. On one visit we can look at the roof and the gutters together and tell you honestly which job can wait.

Can my old gutters be repaired instead?

Often, yes. Leaky seams can be resealed, loose sections refastened and sagging runs re-pitched. If the metal is rusted through or the gutters are badly undersized, we show you the worn spots and explain why repairs would not last.

Are gutter guards worth it?

It depends on your trees. Under heavy oak or maple cover, guards can save a lot of cleanouts. With few trees nearby, the extra cost is hard to justify, and we will say so.

What size gutters does my home need?

Most homes do fine with five-inch gutters. Large or steep roof sections that dump a lot of water into one run may need six-inch gutters and bigger downspouts. We base it on the roof area draining into each run.

How long does a gutter install take?

Most homes are done in a day, and repairs are often shorter. If we find rotted fascia, replacing it can add time, and we talk with you before going ahead.

Does someone have to stay home while you work?

You are free to go about your day. Everything happens outside, so all we need is a clear path to the yard and driveway. Keep your phone nearby in case we uncover something worth a quick talk, and we will send pictures of the finished job either way.
